Ocean Blue Software provides platform development and system integration services for smart TV devices. We work across RDK, Android TV and custom Linux platforms, with experience on major chipsets including MediaTek, Amlogic, Novatek, Realtek and Broadcom.
RDK
Ocean Blue Software integrates and deploys RDK platforms for OEM and operator devices, managing the full software lifecycle from platform bring-up through to commercial deployment. We provide and integrate the components required for live TV services, including DVB, CI+ and HbbTV. Our HbbTV solution enhances the system WebKit browser with native HbbTV capability integrated directly into the RDK platform, allowing manufacturers to minimise the memory and storage footprint on HbbTV-enabled devices. We support component integration, feature customisation and performance optimisation across RDK-V and related stacks, ensuring alignment with silicon vendors and operator requirements.

Android TV
Ocean Blue Software delivers Android TV platform integration for OEM and operator devices, supporting projects from platform bring-up through to broadcast integration and commercial deployment. Our work enables live broadcast services on Android TV platforms, including DVB, CI+ and HbbTV support integrated through the Android TV Input Framework (TIF) and Tuner HAL. We delivered the first shared-source TV Input Service for Android TV, integrating broadcast middleware into the AOSP architecture. This established the DTVKit reference implementation for Android and is now deployed in millions of devices across multiple brands and OEMs. We have developed an HbbTV browser solution for Android. Our browser implements the latest HbbTV specifications and Operator Applications (OpApp), supporting applications built on these standards, such as Freely. Using ORB, HbbTV functionality can be integrated into the system browser to minimise memory and storage requirements, or deployed as a standalone browser component. To support development and testing, we maintain an Android emulator capable of simulating Tuner HAL functionality, enabling middleware and UI development without requiring broadcast hardware.

Operator-Branded TV
Ocean Blue Software, with RedSquid, delivers a complete Operator-Branded TV solution. The RedSquid platform ensures the operator brand is the primary UX, backed by essential system-level middleware and cloud infrastructure. For Operators, this means total control over data and revenue with no major app rewrites. For OEMs, OBS provides expert integration and deployment support, including broadcast middleware and operator app onboarding. As a primary architect behind OORO, Ocean Blue Software has spearheaded the development of the first truly Arabic-first, monetised smart TV platform. By leveraging our deep expertise in DTVKit's open-source stack, we have enabled a robust hybrid TV solution tailored specifically to the unique demands of the MENA region. Our engineers worked alongside the Elaraby Group to bridge the gap between global broadcast standards and local content needs across TVs, STBs and streaming sticks. We played a critical role in integrating a high-performance, data-driven advertising and monetisation model that empowers regional broadcasters and content providers. We optimised the platform for both affordability and world-class performance, ensuring seamless digital distribution for millions of households in the MENA region.
