Testing & Certification
Our test engineers work across the full certification lifecycle, from early integration testing and gap analysis through to formal submission and issue resolution. We run testing in-house using our own dedicated lab infrastructure and automation frameworks, and coordinate directly with certification authorities and operators on your behalf.
TV Standards & Regional Operators
Ocean Blue Software supports broadcast and regional operator approvals through targeted testing or fully managed certification programmes, including pre-certification and coordination with certification authorities where required. Our team has extensive experience in testing DVB and CI+ systems, certifying HbbTV implementations and supporting approval against UK and EU regional operator requirements. Based in the UK, we provide local testing support for manufacturers developing products for UK broadcast and streaming platforms, including BBC iPlayer and Freely.
Streaming & TV Apps
Ocean Blue Software provides testing support for smart TV application approval. We support manufacturers with testing major streaming applications, including YouTube and Netflix, and help manage the end-to-end approval process, from testing through to report submission.
Audio, Video & TV Platforms
We provide testing and certification support for smart TV platform approval, including requirements related to HDMI and Dolby technologies. We also support audio quality (AQ) and picture quality (PQ) optimisation, improving clarity, colour accuracy, and playback performance, to deliver a high-quality viewing and listening experience across devices.
HbbTV Testing
Ocean Blue Software is an HbbTV Registered Test Centre, and provides testing of HbbTV implementations against the official HbbTV Test Suite. This includes HbbTV, HbbTV OpApp and additional operator-specific materials, such as those required for Freely. Our team combines detailed specification knowledge with practical implementation experience, supporting customers through pre-certification, issue resolution, and final approval.

Official tests for HbbTV 2.0.4
We contributed to the official HbbTV 2.0.4 test suite by designing test cases, creating test materials, and delivering automated tests for new specification features. Where reference implementations were not yet available, we implemented selected features within our open-source HbbTV browser to validate expected test behaviour.
