Bristol - April 14, 2005
Ocean Blue, a UK specialist in digital TV software, has signed a contract with French technology company, Iwedia, to supply and support Ocean Blue's Voyager MHEG-5 software. The contract, worth around £500,000, will allow Iwedia to build interactive TV services into its DVB middleware software.
In the same month France switches on "TNT" – a free 14-channel digital terrestrial TV service similar to the UK's Freeview. TNT will be available to 35 percent of France's households this month, and should be available to 65 percent of the country by early 2006.
Mazen Abboud, VP of Sales for Iwedia, stated, "We believe the expertise, knowledge and software products of Ocean Blue perfectly complement Iwedia's software products and professional services portfolio and reinforce Iwedia's strategy with respect to the UK digital TV market."
Iwedia's DVB middleware, incorporating Ocean Blue's Voyager MHEG-5 and DSM-CC software will be made available to consumer electronic companies for integration into set top boxes and televisions.
Ken Helps CEO of Ocean Blue stated, "We welcome the strategic alliance with Iwedia, to further increase the distribution of our products and expertise."
